The appointments - if made - are feared to have a negative impact on the ongoing Karachi operation.
A three-member committee of DG Rangers, IG Sindh and CCPO was constituted at the start of the operation and it was decided that all appointments and transfers should be approved by the committee. However, the Sindh government is currently planning to transfer three DIGs and an SSP without consulting the committee.
At a high-level meeting convened at the headquarters today, the Rangers expressed concern over the issue and about the future of the targeted operation. Rangers had recommended that the current police setup should not change for at least a year.
Operation
The targeted operation started in Karachi after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the metropolitan last year in a bid to devise a strategy to curb violence.
With the provincial government on board, the prime minister gave a go-ahead to the paramilitary force to conduct raids and arrest criminals with the help of the police. Subsequently, the operation began on September 7 and, since then, many suspects accused of target killing, extortion and anti-state activities have been arrested.
Law enforcement agencies recently turned its focus to banned militant outfits following the suicide attack that killed SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan and his colleagues on January 9.

expecting merit, honesty and transparency from corruption party is extreme stupidity
When political interests become more important than the Pakistan then same deteriorating law and order situation scan not be improved the economic hub of Pakistan. PPPP and MQM both are doing drama to save their culprits.
Transparency in Karachi what a joke! There are three entities supposedly protecting the people of Karachi namely DG Rangers-IG Sindhi-CCPO these puppet so called protective forces in their tenure has seen crime & killing spike and we are concerned about the PM making changes without approval? Business as usual is a Pakistani problem that creeps into all areas areas we need a serious jolt to get any thing done & get good results. More pressure as to which political party is in cahoots with the police & the three heads should be shaken by the PM as to why there is so much violence on the streets. No one wants to take responsibility as the city sinks some extreme measure need to be undertaken & the citizens of Karachi need to demand it.
Operation all over Karachi by Army is the only solution. Karachi operations is entered 6th months and is useless where the daily killings, kidnapping, bhutta and street crimes continue unabated. Police and rangers are big beneficiaries of this money taken out from the pockets from the common citizens.
Priminister must keep eye on any move by Chief Minister of Sindh regarding current on going effective operation by law enforcement agencies.
For the operation to be successful, the Army must do it.
@RKM: That is because feudals control not only the PPP but Sindh.
Good move. No unmerited and opaque appointments should be made anywhere. Nawaz make sure you check such appointments across the board throughout Pakistan.
Sindh has not made any progress because of their own love, i.e., PPP.
