In a statement released by the Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday evening, the military spokesperson said that the allegations were contrary to the facts on ground and that the Pakistan Army respects the ceasefire agreement.
The spokesperson added that the situation along the disputed border had improved after the meeting of the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India met in late December.
"Such accusation and provocative statements are regrettable and counterproductive," the statement further read.
India warns it will retaliate to attacks on LoC
On Monday, the Indian Chief of Army Staff General Bikram Singh said that his country had avenged the deaths of its soldiers allegedly killed by Pakistan along the LoC and had inflicted casualties on the Pakistani army, the Hindustan Times reported.
Gen Singh further warned that India could not be expected to stick by the rules if Pakistan did not.
Quoting Pakistani news reports that 10 Pakistani soldiers were killed and another 11 injured in recent clashes along the LoC, Gen Singh claimed that those casualties had been inflicted by Indian troops. “Our boys have done a stupendous job. They have retaliated well… and done their bit.”
In a press conference on Monday, Gen Singh described LoC violations as a “mini war”. He added that the Indian Army would give a “befitting response” in any sector where Indian soldiers were fired on.

Quite amateurish. Not expected form even 2-star what to talk of 4 stars. Anyways, it is calculated move to tone down the rhetoric which BTW was flamed by Indian army itself through hyperventilating Indian media. Indian army knows very well, it has no other option.
@jg: I am an Indian - yes. My comment was directly related to the news - hence I am not a troll. Bikram SIngh does not need any spokes person, he is quite capable of speaking for himself. I was responding to this news item with the benefit of aving read the original article i Indian media as well.
It is true that Indian army is ot considered as an 'idara' by itself and rather it is part of the executive with Indian COAS reporting to Indian defense minister. We think this is a good thing. If you feel that having an unaccountable army that prevents your government from implementing commitments on foreign policy is a desirable thing - well good for you.
Pakistan Army says "I did not do it". But it remains silent whether LeT, or other Jihadis have done it. With or without Army's support. In Jihadi clothes or Army Uniforms. Pakistan Army always plays with fire and cries when fingers are burnt. Time to grow up...and stop playing games.
@np: so now we hav an indian troll as spokesman of my bikram singh.wake up.its always indian angels soldiers who are right.should pak army remind indian army of the 13 odd incidence of pak army soldiers beheadings since last 10 years.you need a reality check and see mushareff thrashing of arrogant indian media on the issue.
its time you criticize your army as well.mr bikram loves to be in lime light since he gets so less importance in india than pak army chief gets around the world.
