How Pakistanis perceive India

Letter October 21, 2010
It is good to see that people in Pakistan have started seeing India in a positive manner.

DELHI: I appreciate Shahzad Chaudhry’s article “Can we change our ‘hate-India’ mindset?” (October 20). It is good to see that people in Pakistan have started seeing India in a positive manner. As a retired army officer, I have worked with Pakistani army officers and was very impressed with some of them. However, every time India or Islam was brought up it changed their attitude. In the Commonwealth Games held this month in Delhi, athletes from Pakistan received the largest applause (after India of course) from the crowd. I was there and it felt good to see Pakistani players being encouraged in this manner.

I am happy that people in Pakistan have started thinking rationally and are headed in the right direction. Pakistanis are great people; they have a lot of potential and a promising future.
