Water Supply Scheme: Corruption case filed against nine officials

Scheme launched in 2008 and completed in 2009 was under investigation for alleged corruption of Rs10.25 million.

HANGU: An FIR was registered against nine officials on Friday for alleged corruption in Tora Warhi Water Supply Scheme in Hangu. According to an official of Hangu Anti-Corruption Circle Hazrat Umar, the water supply scheme launched in 2008 and completed in 2009 was under investigation for alleged corruption of Rs10.25 million. Umar added Communication and Works (C&W) officials had awarded the contract for the scheme to a man named Naeem Khan, however, Khan left work on the scheme unfinished. Following this, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Director Fayaz Ali Shah issued directives to launch an inquiry. A case was filed against former XEN Ziaur Rahman, former SDO and acting C&W XEN Mubarak Hussain, XEN PHE Wilayatullah, SDO Azizullah, XEN Taj Ali Khan, sub-engineer Masood Ahmad Khan and contractor Naeem Khan, among others. Umar further said the case was filed after final investigation was completed and the project was visited on January 2.
