Police kill three suspected militants in Karachi during alleged encounter

KARACHI: Three suspected terrorists belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in an alleged police encounter within in the jurisdiction of Mauripur police station on Friday.

The dead were identified as Mirza Ali, 45, allegedly the TTP ameer for Ittehad Town; Sher Muhammad, 35, allegedly the TTP amir for Landhi Town, and Amanullah ,22.

Police claimed that they were patrolling a section of scheme-42 near Musharraf Colony just after noon, where the three suspects were waiting by a motorcycle.

The terrorists allegedly opened fire when police began to ask them questions. The police retaliated, killing all three suspects.

“They were terrorist and belonged to TTP,” Mauripur police station official Khan Muhammad claimed.

Muhammad further claimed that while the police mobile was damaged, no policeman was injured in the encounter.

Police recovered the motorcycle and weapons, including a hand grenade, a Kalashnikov and a pistol.

Dead bodies were shifted to the Edhi mortuary.
