ISLAMABAD:

Some 17 officials were reinstated by the Capital Development Authority CDA) on Thursday.

Most of the reinstated officers including one director, four deputy directors, three assistant directors, five sub-engineers and others had been made OSDs during the tenure of the former CDA chairman Nadeem Hassan Asif.

A notification to this effect issued by the CDA’s human resource development directorate said that the officers have been restored without prejudice in the light of an inquiry’s findings.

However, of those reinstated, grade-19 officer Mian Mohammad was named in a multi-million scam involving the supplying of substandard and low quality furniture to suites at Parliament Lodges and the government hostel. Sources said that Mian Mohammad enjoys the backing of one of the sitting CDA members. The issue of his involvement in the scam has already been subject to an internal CDA probe and several parliamentarians raised the issue on the assembly floor.

Meanwhile, CDA Engineering Member Sanaullah Aman has been given the additional charge of environment member. The seat fell vacant last month after the former environment member, Ahsan Mangi, was transferred to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
