ISLAMABAD: the Election Commission received 24 verified degrees from the Higher Education Commission, out of which one of the degrees has been declared fake.

According to sources, the intermediate certificate of PPP MPA Bashir Laghari has been declared bogus. So far, 576 degrees of parliamentarians have been authenticated while the number of fake degrees stands at 59.

The Election Commission had ordered the verification of degrees on the Supreme Court's directions. The Commission has also been directed to take strict action parliamentarians carrying fake degrees.

Earlier this week, the initial hearing of cases pertaining to public representatives’ fake or invalid degrees turned into a fiasco as only seven of the 15 accused summoned appeared before the Election Commission of Pakistan.

They are a complete twist of the adage "harfan mowla" into a metamorphosed saying of "har ghalat fan key mowla". The sooner a list is compiled and published all the better for the nation who will know whom to vote for and the law must come into action now to criminally prosecute them and put them behind bars for "fraud and forgery". With salams and best wishes.
