The debate surrounding former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s medical report will commence today (Thursday), with the three-judge special court constituted to try the former president set to present its ruling on the submitted medical documents from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC).
During Wednesday’s hearings, when prosecutor Akram Sheikh asked the Justice Faisal Arab-led court if he can give a written statement on the medical report, he was told to comment on the medical report verbally in today’s hearing.
One researcher from the prosecution team told The Express Tribune that the AFIC has in the past been trusted by courts due to its professional standards in cases where medical records from other hospitals need verification. He suggested that the prosecution is aware of the hospital’s credibility, making it difficult for the team to challenge the authenticity or merits of the report in question.

Heart illness isn't a "get out of jail" card.. Bi-Pass heart surgery is a common/mundane procedure these days with the hospital sending you home in 4 days - that should equate to no more than a 2/3 week delay in trial. Pakistan has had this guy confined for months without making any substance advance to starting a trial - how about starting the murder trial - you know the original charge that seems to have been forgotten with all the hubbub about treason .
Are these Generals above law?
Army has provided a sanctuary to its former general to keep with the traditions that all generals including retired are above the constitution. That is why they never waste a chance to take over the country. The court should put some fear of God in their hearts finally!
