A woman committed suicide after allegedly killing her husband in Allah Dino Bhand village in the Khairpur district on Monday.
The woman, 40-year-old Shazia, had reportedly asked her husband, Lal Khan Bhand, to take her to Dadu to visit her parents. On Monday morning, a heated argument ensued between the couple as Shazia demanded that her husband hail a taxi.
Promising to return with a taxi, Lal Khan left the house and did not come back till later that evening. Upon returning home, Lal Khan told his wife ruefully that he could not find a taxi. Enraged by her husband’s attitude, Shazia took out a repeater gun and allegedly opened fire at him. She then shot herself. Gambat police station Assistant Head Constable Qurban Ali told The Express Tribune that the family had stopped the police from taking the bodies for having postmortem and nobody had turned up to register an FIR. According to sources, the couple had been married for 15 years and had five children.
The brother of the deceased man, Rashid Ali Bhand, told journalists that only the children were at home when the incident occurred. He added that Shazia was Lal Khan’s second wife.
