FAISALABAD: President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Engineer Suhail Bin Rashid said effluent water duly treated from textile industries can be used for irrigation needs of farmers. He added runoff water from textile industries is less harmful as compared to the effluent water from other sources and it can be used for irrigational needs. Moreover, it can be a source of income as it can be sold to the farmers whenever canal water is scarce to meet agricultural needs. “Textile Industries neither have sufficient space available nor are in a position to install effluent treatment plants individually due to the enormous cost involved and the treated water could again become unusable if it would have been treated by the industries,” said Rashid.
