Brother-in-law of former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief minister’s (CM) brother Ghazan Hoti, along with a former CM adviser, were given in NAB’s custody on Tuesday in a weapons purchase scam worth Rs7 billion.
Ghazan Hoti’s brother-in-law Raza Ali Khan and special adviser to former CM on law and order Niaz Ali Shah were arrested and presented in an accountability court by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in order to obtain remand so as to complete the investigation into the scam.
NAB Special Prosecutor Lajbar Khan informed the court Niaz Ali Shah received Rs20 million as bribe for awarding the contract, and Rs10 million of this amount was paid in US dollars in the presence of two other people identified as Zahid Ayub and Faisal.
Lajbar Khan claimed Niaz played the role of a middleman to remove any legal hindrances in the way of getting the contract approved. “The accused also bypassed legal channels in approving the contract and NAB officials need time to investigate the matter,” said Khan.
The special prosecutor added Raza Ali Khan received Rs3 million for himself and Rs195 million for Ghazan Hoti, former CM Amir Haider Khan Hoti’s brother.
Accountability court judge Wilayat Ali Khan then handed over both accused to NAB for a 14-day remand.
Former inspector general of police Malik Naveed is already in NAB’s custody. Naveed is accused of misappropriating Rs1.82 billion in the procurement of the Rs7 billion weapons contract during his tenure as police chief from 2008-2010.

irrelevant discussion on relationships. all is pointing to ex chief minister Hoti. I wish he is also arrested sooner than later. Shame govt for Pukhtunkhwa and brought insult and disrespect to Bach Khan struggle.
Brother-in-law in this context means wife's brother, not sister's husband. Amir Haider and Ghazan would have the same sister but different wives, hence Ghazan's brother-in-law would not be Amir Haider's brother-in-law.
Advice to 'confused' - read a book. Kamaqal bachiya zaan de usharmo, do not blame the reporter's logic for your own stupidity you imbecile.
Majeed Marwat is also involved in this, these days there is another allegation in the secretariat that he forged Malik naveed's signature. All perpetrators should be punished.
ANP govt was worst in corruption. They have taken money from foreign powers as well as exploit departments for personal gains. I will never go back to ANP as it was my worst mistake. I still regret being part of their support in crime. Some time your innocent mistakes harm others like general public.
So when they are going to arrest Ghazan khan??
@confused: Hadier Hoti has a brother , Ghazan Khan. Now this brother has a wife. And this wife of his has a brother. Now this brother is Ghazan Khan's brother-in-law but not Haider Hoti's. :D
@confused: Your wife's brother is also called brother in law. No doubt ANP's rule was notorious for corruption.
@ confused, Only if wives of both brothers are sisters
Shouldn't brother-in-law of Haider Hoti's brother be Haider Hoti's brother-in-law too? The Hoti bros would have the same sister no?
p.s. what kind of logic did this reporter/"journalist" use (if any)
