PESHAWAR: When Amin Plaza’s security guards reported for duty at around 7am on Sunday, they noticed something unusual - their branch of Muslim Commercial Bank still had its shutters up.

One of them decided to go investigate and saw the body of the bank’s security guard, lying in a pool of blood. He went and alerted the others immediately. A few minutes later, they found the body of the bank’s regional manager in the toilet. The deceased looked like they had been tortured to death.

The regional manager was a man identified as Faridullah and a resident of Sheikhan. The security guard was identified as Ghaniur Rehman, a resident of Agra Payan in Charsadda.

While talking to The Express Tribune, an official from the Hashtnagri police station confirmed that the incident took place at the branch located inside Amin Plaza on GT Road. He said they were informed about the murders early in the morning.

“Both the men were tortured to death by unidentified people,” he said. “Whoever they were, they did not touch anything inside the bank. We found laptops, mobiles, and there was still money left in Faridullah and Rehman’s pockets.

The lock on the main gate was still in place.” He added initial investigation suggested it was not an attempted robbery but could not comment any further till the investigation was complete.

They do believe that whoever was responsible for the murders was known to the deceased. The people who work at the plaza, however, suspect foul play and think that money must have been stolen.

While the police is looking at the CCTV footage for clues, the bodies have been taken to a hospital for an autopsy.
