Marked: Separate bombs target police officials’ residences

BANNU: The residences of two police constables were damaged in separate explosions in Bannu late Saturday night.

DSP Sanaullah Khan said the first incident occurred in Ghani Machankhel within the limits of Bannu city police.A bomb planted near the house of police constable Arifullah exploded around 1am.

Khan said the main gate of Arifullah’s house was destroyed and the boundary wall was partially damaged due to the explosion, adding no loss of life or injury was reported.

He said police officials rushed to the area after being informed of the incident and started a search operation to trace the culprits’ location.

The DSP said a similar incident occurred in Abbas Kaki area of the district when an explosive planted near the residence of police constable Zaheer Ali blew up.

He said the house’s gate and structure were damaged as a result, and no casualties were reported. The police have filed a report of both cases and started an investigation. The DSP said both constables had recently received threats from unidentified militants.

On December 30, three policemen were injured in a remote-controlled explosion targeting a police van in Hawaid,Bannu.
