KARACHI: Public transporters operating in the city have delayed the start of their proposed wheel-jam strike against the on-going crises over the supply of compressed natural gas (CNG). Karachi Transport Ittehad had earlier announced to go on strike for an indefinite period, starting Sunday, but the decision was taken back after a meeting with representatives of the All Pakistan CNG Association at the KTI office on Saturday. The CNG association’s chairperson, Shabbir Suleman and other members were present in the meeting. According to Syed Mehmood Afridi of the KTI, the CNG association’s representatives met the petroleum secretary in Islamabad. The secretary had arranged a meeting between the KTI and CNG association’s representatives and the managing director of the Sui Southern Gas Company on Monday. A decision regarding the strike will be finalised after the meeting.
