PESHAWAR:

NADRA Employees Union (NEU) demanded a proper service structure and to put an end to corruption within the department in a protest in front of Peshawar Press Club on Saturday.

NEU protestors chanted slogans against the government, alleging NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik is unable to run the affairs of the department efficiently and is involved in corruption.

Led by NEU leaders, including provincial president Azmat Qazafi and general secretary Gohar Ayub, employees from DI Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Peshawar and other districts convened at the demonstration. They asked the government to set up a promotion board, issue a seniority list for employees, and also approve medical benefits for them.

The protesters demanded the removal of 8,000 employees who had allegedly been inducted in NADRA on political basis, and for the chairman to be investigated for involvement in corruption.

“The government should take notice of the issues faced by NADRA employees. Those involved in corruption must be brought to justice,” Ayub told the protesters. He warned they would take the protest outside NADRA Headquarters in Islamabad if their demands are not met.
