KARACHI:

Speaking at the official launch of the IBA-SBP consumer confidence survey website, State Bank of Pakistan Governor Yaseen Anwar said that the feedback will help the authorities in designing a futuristic monetary policy.

Introducing the audience to the consumer confidence survey, he said that the Centre of Survey Research was inaugurated in January 2012 with IBA students, teachers and SBP officers meeting every month to collect data on households’ views about various economic propositions.

He added that results from these surveys will help the policymakers study not only the expectations of consumers but also their reaction to different economic and policy shocks.

The SBP governor added that the impact of the project is wider in scope. “We have been increasingly using the concepts of consumer sentiments and inflation expectations in our flagship publications as well as our most recent monetary policy statements,” he added.
