Ishtiaq’s brace helps PIA move up

Team now on fifth place after beating PAF 3-1 in PPFL.

KARACHI: PIA pulled off a 3-1 win against PAF in the ongoing Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) in Lahore on Thursday.

PAF began with confidence as Muhammad Imran Mushtaq scored the opening goal in the 11th minute of the match. However, PIA equalised the score through Muhammad Ishtiaq four minutes later and then struck in the 86th minute again to give his team a lead. Ali Ahsan then sealed the victory in the first minute of injury-time before close of play.

With the win, PIA moved to the fifth place after accumulating 36 points in the league. On the other hand, PAF remained on the second spot despite the loss. Currently, Wapda lead the table with 42 points.

In the second match of the day, Army defeated HBL 1-0 with Imran Hussain scoring the winner in the 27th minute.



Army continued on the seventh place with their eighth win of the season. They have 32 points after playing 19 matches, while HBL stand on the 10th place with 27 points after 25 matches.

According to Army squad-member Jaffar Khan, the team will gain momentum in the league in the third leg.

“We have a new lot in the team,” Khan told The Express Tribune. “Many of them are playing for the first time, so it’s a learning experience for them.”
