Matching lipstick to eye shadow



While we’re firm favourites of a bold lipstick on our night out, nothing compares to a flawless complexion paired with subtle eye shadow and a pale matching lip colour. This trend works best with shades of pink, peach and nude. You can apply pale pink gloss like Gossip Girl star Blake Lively for a low-key yet chic look. It’s a subtle shade that works well on both lips and eyelids. You can also go for a lighter shade on the eyes, along with a darker one on the lips to go from day to night.

Navy nails



While red nail polish has always been the go-to colour for women in winter, navy is a promising new alternative. Dusky Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has been seen sporting the colour, proving that this nail polish shade suits all skin tones. Jessica Simpson has also rocked this colour on a number of occasions, so we’re sure it’s here to stay. Head over to your favourite salon and give yourself a treat. New Year, new nails!

Mint liner



Update your makeup palette for the season with the top winter looks. From electrifying lips to the classic smokey eyes, there are several ways to update your look and try something new. Mint might be a spring shade, but it can be used as an eye liner in the winter to add a bit of winter frost to you look. What better way to show off your new look than at that wedding you have to go to? Justin Timberlake’s better half Jessica Biel pulls off this look beautifully, and we’re sure you will too!

Shadow it right



This trend usually comes around during spring and summer months, but you can get an early start on that faux-tanned bronzy look by adding a pale orange colour on your lids, and just below your lower lash line — like actor-fashion designer Ashley Olsen’s signature make-up look. This is a trend that can work with an array of colours. Be sure to use colours that suit your skin tone. Darker colours for lighter skin tones and vice versa.
