According to the plan, police and Ranger commandos will provide security to former president Pervez Musharraf prior to his court trial.
This decision was made a day after explosives were recovered 2 kilometres away from his residence in Chak Shehzad on Monday.
This was the second time explosives had been recovered near his residence.
To ensure security, the DIG will personally monitor Musharraf's security detail, including the travel route he will take to get to court on Wednesday.
Earlier on Monday, five packets of explosive material were found near former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s Chak Shahzad farm house in Islamabad, Express News reported on Monday.
According to the police, explosives were recovered from the green belt on Park Road.
Each packet contained around 400-500g of explosive material.

Why not send him back to his country of birth? No one can legaly deprive him of this right!
Rex Minort:
@Assad: I fully agree with you Assad. So far the urdu speaking community who are the most educated community in Pakistan have not totaly lost faith in Pakistan, continuing this trial is a sure recipe to losse all faith in Pakistan.
Dictator Mush deserves less protection than he had provided to the most popular leader of the country BB even after twice bombing. He is a commando and she was only a civilian woman. Why is he so scared and why is he trying to bring in the whole army? It is time for him to show that he is a real man. For the first time Mush is waking up to the facts and he is scared like a chicken.
None of his lame excuses worked. His end is now imminent & a lesson for any potential "adventurer" in Pakistan!
Judges themselves are not above the law and when they interfere in the running of the other pillars of the government, and specially in matters of national security, they too will be subjected to reaction from other pillars of the state, which are equal in importance and weight to the judiciary. People need to understand these things instead of making this out to be an injustice against the judiciary. Countless security personnel had been killed or were at risk when the courts were letting militants go free. People behind the attacks on the country's leadership and military were being let go by the courts because the judicial system is so corrupt. It was under these circumstances that the state of emergency was declared, as is the right of the executive branch and was approved by the legislative branch of the government of Pakistan. These are the facts, and these are indeed undisputed. What we have the tamasha around is to trap the "Tomcat" for an act committed in 2007 by using a law put in place in 2010. This is a travesty of basic justice.
Most people here calling for case of treason against Musharraf do not realize that by singling him out for only for the State of Emergency, not only is justice not being served, but this is causing pretty significant heartburn within another ethnic group in Pakistan after having done the same to Bangalis, Balochis, and Sindhis. What is clear for all to see is that as long as the perpetrator is a Pakhtun or Punjabi (Ayub, Yahya, Zia and all their Punjabi and Pakhtun political cohorts including Nawaz Sharif), its fine and should be let off, but when an example is to be made, its only with minority ethnicity.
People here can negate this all day, but it is a reality and what is clearly coming across is the mob lynching of an Urdu speaking Army general for the collective crimes of all by a Punjabi government and judiciary. This is the plain and simple of the situation. Perhaps ET will post this divergent view for a change.
.Musharaf's major mistake was Kargil misadventure. Other crimes were common for Pakistan since Indepedence. So just let him go to Dubai or London where other Pakistani criminals live.
Why complicate matters which the beurcracy cannot implement? His palace residence was converted to PRISON for security needs, now convert it to a Police Station to accomodate the security pesonnel and later to a court for the trial as well. All in one! In Pakistan democracy, Indian caste system has been reincarnated. One system of justice for the flunkies proletarian and another one for the bourgeoisie!

Will the arrangements be 400% foolproof with at least four layers of security? Else, it will not be acceptable to Musharraf standards.
How about putting him in jail where people accused of Murder, Treason etc are suppose to reside until trial? Better yet - how about actually giving him a trial and determine whether he's guilty/innocent which should/could have been done months ago. You seem to go through the motions but forget that the goal is actually to determine whether he's guilty or not.
Stop wasting Taxpayers money on all this trial drama. Let him live his life. This is not going to help Pakistan in any way.Simple personal revenge, stop it.
@Ch. Allah Daad: Who is threatening courts and obstructing justice??? Maj Gen retd Faisal Alvi was killed on Islamabad expressway and his murderer Haroon Ashiq who confessed murder in court was set free by courts due to lack of evidence... If asking security is treason Iftikhar Choudry should also be tried becoz he is demanding Ranger cover and bullet proof car,,,,
Musharraf should not go personally and let the Lawyers handle it.
Remember in Pakistan particularly dead men tell no tales be it Liaquat Ali Khan, Benazir, Bhutoo, Hakeem Said, Salman Taiseer et al
Dont walk into this trap which is the only way for your enemies to circumvent justice and eliminate you before the trial. There is no case for you to answer
He is threatening courts and obstructing justice. It's a clear violation of law. Supporting him within legal limits is no crime but doing anything which law does not permit could also amount to treason. We hope our wise generals understand this difference.
Yes, as they provided for the visiting Sri Lankan Cricket team. It was supposed to be "Presidential Level Security." After the terrorist attack on the team in open daylight, with nary a security fellow to resist, the ICC banned international cricket within Pakistan.
