Tragedy averted: High intensity bomb defused in Shangla

SHANGLA: A high-intensity bomb planted by unidentified militants at a roadside in Asharo Sar area of Martong  in Shangla district was defused by officials of the bomb disposal squad (BDS) on Sunday. DSP Amjid Khan of Bisham circle said he was informed by Alouch police that a pedestrian had spotted a bomb planted on a roadside. He directed BDS officials to reach the spot and defuse the bomb. He said the police surrounded the area and also launched a search operation. The DSP said after an hour, BDS officials defused the bomb and reported five kilogrammes of explosives were used in the device. A police patrol might have been the intended target, Khan added.
