Pakistan fail to qualify for last-four

U14 team loses out to India in Qatar Asian Junior Tennis team event.

KARACHI: Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-final of the Qatar Asian Junior Team Cup 2013 as the U14 squad lost its last Group B match to India 3-0 in Doha on Thursday.

India and Hong Kong progressed to the last-four round where they beat Group A’s Kazakhstan 2-0 and Indonesia 2-0 respectively on Friday.

Pakistan were in Group B along with India, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Qatar B and Hong Kong. They began their campaign on December 21 with a defeat from Hong Kong 3-0, but bounced back in the competition with a 2-1 win against Sri Lanka and a 3-0 thrashing of Bahrain.

However, they fell short against India who secured the group’s top position with 10 points after playing five matches.

Hong Kong occupied the second place with nine points and Pakistan finished third with eight. The team included national Muzammil Murtaza, Mujahid Khan, Talha bin Asif and Aman Khan along with Coach Kamran Khalil.
