Punjab Games to begin in Lahore today

21 different sports to be played in six cities of the province.

KARACHI: A torch rally for the 73rd Punjab Games was held on Wednesday to mark the mega event that will begin in six different cities of the province from Thursday.

Organised by the Punjab Olympic Association (POA), the rally covered a distance of two kilometres from Charring Cross to the Olympic House.

Participants of the rally, which included the officials and the athletes, marked the occasion by hoisting the Olympic flag while POA Vice President Javed Saleem addressed the members.

Arm-wrestling, athletics, badminton, basketball, bodybuilding, canoeing, cycling, chess, gymnastics, martial arts, paralympics, rowing, weightlifting, throwball and tug of war are among the 21 sports featured in the event.

These sports will be played in Sialkot, Gujaranwala, Faisalabad, Wah Cantt and Okara, while the opening ceremony will be held at Al Hamra Hall in Lahore.

The event will continue till December 31.
