Ashraf registers outright win against Karim

Beats opponent 3-0 in opening match of Sindh Cup Snooker Tournament.

KARACHI: The 22nd Sindh Cup Snooker Tournament 2013 got under way on Wednesday in Karachi, with 192 players competing in the two-week event.

Ashraf Ali began his campaign with a convincing 3-0 win against Umar bin Karim, while Arif Khan outclassed Abdul Ghaffar 3-0.

On the other hand, Ahmed Imam played a tough opener against Mohammad Sharif. He lost his first two frames, but bounced back to seal a 3-2 victory in the following frames.

Muhammad Ayaz and Farzad Vatcha also registered easy wins, while Muhammad Faizan overcame Iftikhar Hassan 3-2.

Umairuddin defeated Siddiqullah 3-0 and Dilawar Khan outplayed Nehal Anwar in similar fashion. Muhammad Tahir beat Muhammad Faizan 3-0, while Abu Bakar received a walkover against Noor Ali Shah.

The tournament is features players from 49 local clubs and the event will conclude on January 6.
