Despite the cricketers’ outrage, the makers of the movie are quite confident that the dialogue, when heard in context, will be taken in good humour by the masses and the cricketer. For now, an insulted Afridi has written to the producers, asking for an explanation of the exact context in which his name has been used.
Actor-singer Ali Zafar, who plays the lead in the cross-border love story featuring a Pakistani boy and an Indian girl, went on record with The Express Tribune, saying, “I am an Afridi fan myself. Let’s leave the final verdict to the viewers as and when they step out of the cinema after watching the film, and the context of his reference.”

Afridi plays like a true pathan.
Dear Afridi,
If this story is true, you need to take a chill pill.
we need an explanation from the producer of "main hon shahid afridi", for what came into his mind to make an inspirational movie in the name of one of the most pathetic cricket player from pakistan. how the heck did he miss waim akram, waqar younis, shoab akhtar, inzaimam, saedd anwar.
Imagine if all Pathans start asking explanations about our Khan saab Jokes (our cultural asset)? I am already laughing!
Afridi needs to be reminded of his statement 'Pakistanis have bigger hearts than Indians.
I really don't need to see the movie to have a laugh at Afridis batting, nor do I need to see Ali Zafars antics. See enuf on TV.
Haters gonna hate, We Love You LaLa and cannot even imagine cricket without you !!!! Best of luck for Today's match.
@hasan: I don't know about Afridi but at least you make a big joke of yourself by writing this comment.
Looks like a good movie ... and it is a good publicity stunt putting Afridi in the lime light ... very clever Ali Zafar ..... good !!!
This news is more ridiculous then Afridi's Batting.
I think the movie is going to be Great! :D
You all may troll ...
"Afridi hasn’t taken the jibe on his erratic batting skills all too well, and is demanding an explanation from the film-makers." How could the movie makers explain the erratic and irresponsible batting of Afridi? He has to explain it himself and prove them all wrong with his consistent performance. Afridi is an out of control egotistic man who after playiing hundreds of matches still remains out of control on and off the field.
Seems like he still has the wit of a 17 yr old.
Well sir,
Can I make an Afridi joke here?
It's about a brand new type of cricket ball made from guava pulp.
It's called Guaball.
The ad has the picture of Afridi eating a cricket ball.
The tagline goes: "Guaball, made from pure guava pulp. Play in the mood, eat when hungry."
Looks like a third class film!
@Cheema: i wonder why would this movie be hated in India? yami is awesome, ali is also a good actor. why so much hatred man? why?
@Cheema: Just wanted to tell you that you sound like an ignorant racist! And I am a Punjabi from Lahore.
afridi is one of the biggest jokes of our cricket, and its time he learns to live one... accept and move on.. atleast u r geting some attention through this.. otherwise no one in our cricket asks for you...
The reference was to his comments about Indians being small hearted. If he had not made the comment, no one would have made fun of it either. InBesharam for example, RNbir makes fun of Shah Rukh in DDLJ and Salman in Dabangg. No one was uptight about that.
@cheema: you make me laugh buddy :D
Lol. Truth hurts Afridi ji. You dont have license to say anything you want, people may some day talk back. Indians are not Amir Sohail, Akhthar, Younis etc. They dont have obligation to listen to your talk and not reply back.
Bigger insult to you was the movie Main hoon shahid afridi
Seems like a cheap comedy.
That's what you call free marketing. And Afridi is just helping the producers milking more revenue in his name
@Sarmad Hassan: We need people like Sarmad. Thanks
Afridi needs to grow up and should learn to live with the jokes/pranks. Anyways he is history now.
The trailer won't start half way through so skip to save good 2 min of your life. If you want to save some more time, don't even try playing it, its awful !
