A well-placed official told The Express Tribune that the ICC is not considering switching the venue and continues with its preparations to host the event in the country currently gripped with political tension.
The World Twenty20 Cup will be played from March 16 to April 6 after Bangladesh will host the Asia Cup from February 24 to March 7. Pakistan is scheduled to take part in both events.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) last week expressed its concerns to the ICC over sending the national team to Bangladesh amid the ongoing diplomatic tiff between the two governments and anti-Pakistan sentiments in the country.
Najam Sethi, PCB’s Interim Management Committee chairman, said the board was in touch with Pakistan’s foreign office for seeking advice and updates on the situation.
According to reports, protests against Pakistan were still raging in various cities of Bangladesh, raising further doubts over the team’s participation.
However, the ICC appears set to host the tournament as planned.
“Apart from the PCB, no other cricket board has raised concerns. As of now, there are no chances of considering another venue,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention that the ICC has already opened the process of media accreditation for the tournament, clearly mentioning Bangladesh as the host country.

ICC has shown double standards in this regard. Had Pakistan been hosting this event, the ICC would have never hesitated to change the venue. This is something which has happened in the past as well.....Remember 2011 World Cup????
@yan: My friend, you might not have noticed but national embassy of Pakistan in Dhaka was stormed by protesters and i can't think of sending our players in such hostile atmosphere.
I do not understand what has bangladesh done to deserve boycott and when did bangladesh insult Pakistan?
Safety comes first and in the prevailing circumstances Pakistan should NOT send there team to Bangladesh.
PCB must mobilize its relations with other boards to shift these two events from Bangladesh
Pakistan government and its institutes, organizations, departments and media especially desi English media are totally devoid of the sense of self respect for this country. All they care is their own petty sordid self interests. So no matter how and how much the Bengalis insult our country they will be running to Bangladesh to shamelessly play there with the desi pseudo media intellectuals cursing Pakistan and Pakistanis
