KARACHI:

A 12-year-old girl was subjected to rape in Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth late Thursday night when she was standing outside her house during a power failure.

According to reports, the victim, N*, was abducted by unidentified men and raped. The incident came into her family’s notice when she came home and lost consciousness. Her family approached the Sachal police station to lodge an FIR. The girl was later taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors confirmed that she was subjected to rape. “We will also conduct the chemical analysis and DNA test,” the medico-legal officer at JPMC told The Express Tribune.

The police have registered the FIR No. 639/13 under Sections 365(b) and 376/34 against two unidentified persons on the complaint of the victim’s father. SHO Farooq Sangrani said they registered the FIR before sending the victim to the hospital. The police have yet to trace the culprits, however, they believe that one or two men might be responsible. “And we believe that he lives in the neighbourhood.”

Police investigators conducted a raid in the area. “We have detained at least eight suspects and we believed that the rapist is among them,” said SIO Pir Buksh Chandio. “We will not release them until the girl identifies the culprit.” The officer said that besides detaining the suspects, the police are also using its informers in the case.

The victim was still admitted in the hospital until the filing of this report. “The girl is not in a position to give any statement,” said the doctors.

Separately, a married woman was allegedly gang-raped in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Police officials said that the woman approached the police to register the case against the suspects. SHO Haq Nawaz said one suspect has been caught while two more suspects nominated in the FIR have yet to be arrested. The officer said both the victim and the culprits are relatives.

Why are we having these sex crimes increasing day by day?? Sociologists, politicians, clerics !!!! please think over it. Either make sex easiliy/ legally/ religiously available to everyone or please restrict the factors promoting it. Your media (including mainstream and those available on satelite and internet) both are promoting sex and sexuality where on the other hand sex and the sexual relations is still a taboo. You need to think our dear leaders whether you are a cleric, a sociologist, philanthropist or just an elder of the family.
