Baseball: Pakistan move up to 21st spot in IBF rankings

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka to win the regional tournament, with the victory moving them up to 21st spot.

The Pakistan baseball men’s team improved its position among the top 25 nations in the International Baseball Federation (IBF) rankings that were issued on Friday.


Pakistan were earlier ranked 23rd in the world rankings. However, after winning the 11th West Asia Baseball Cup 2013 this month, the team qualified for the 17th Asian Games 2014 in Korea.


Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka to win the regional tournament, with the victory moving them up to 21st spot.


Meanwhile, the top five positions are held by the US, Japan, Cuba, Chinese Taipei and Dominican Republic.


Pakistan are ahead of Argentina, the Philippines, Great Britain and Thailand in the top 25 countries.
