Bollywood Style Icon 2013: The always impeccable Sonam Kapoor
Sonam is a rare woman who has a signature style that can be called versatile, classy and fierce at the same time.
Fashionista extraordinaire Sonam Kapoor can do no wrong in our book. A style heavyweight on our radar since her Cher Horowitz-inspired character in the 2010 film Aisha, she has come into her own in the last year.
From walking the ramp as a showstopper for Rohit Bal to making the best dressed list with each red carpet appearance at the Cannes Film Festival and having Salvatore Ferragamo make a custom shoe just for her, she has given us multiple occasions to both love her for the flawless example she sets, and be just a little bit green with envy at the thought that her wardrobe is overflowing with fabulous couture creations. Gracing over 100 magazine covers to date, she is a rare woman who has a signature style that can be called versatile, classy and fierce at the same time. With a serious bag fetish, Sonam’s collection includes the oh-so-covetable Prada Skin and the Prada Fringe bag and the Marc Jacobs’ Stam bag. She also owns a handful of Gucci, Chanel and studded Swarovski clutches, and she's not afraid to flaunt them.
2013 is undisputedly the year that Sonam taught us all a masterclass in style and taking risks with what one chooses to wear, and we’re definitely not complaining. The reason that she manages to look effortlessly chic in both traditional Eastern attire and avant garde Western gowns is because she understands the fundamental of fashion, perhaps more so than any other actor in Bollywood thus far. Some of her key style tips are “work a daring trend in a classic silhouette,” and “balance the natural sexiness of sheer fabrics with soft, feminine details and, if required, conservative touches.” It’s safe to say that this diva is singlehandedly responsible for making all her peers step up their style game.
