KARACHI: Rangers officials on Friday arrested three alleged Lyari gang members and recovered a huge amount of modern ammunition from them, Express News reported.

The security officers raided a place in Lyari’s Khadda Market on a tip-off and made these arrests.

The arrested suspects reportedly belong to the Wasiullah Lakho group of the area.

Around four kalashnikov, an M16 rifle, 21 rockets and thousands of bullets were seized from the alleged criminals.

Yesterday, Crime Investigation Department’s (CID) anti-terrorism unit had arrested Umair aka Immli from Lyari. Immli is said to be affiliated with the Wassiullah Lakho gang and allegedly involved in several target killing cases.

Lyari clean-up

Rangers had put up panaflex banners displaying pictures of notorious Lyari gangsters and appealed to the residents to help law enforcers identify them.

Some of them went missing only two days after being put up.

Rangers personnel had also removed several speed breakers from Tannery Road, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road and other areas in Lyari.

To restrict movement for their opponents and law-enforcement agencies, the gangsters of Lyari had established barriers on the entrance and exit routes of narrow streets and constructed speed breakers on main roads.
