Pakistan is looking to double the volume of trade with Turkey, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday following a meeting with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on the sidelines of the D-8 meeting.
“We encourage investment by Turkish businessmen,” the premier remarked.
The Turkish foreign minister acknowledged Pakistan as a rising economic power and committed support in matters of international relations, calling Pakistan a brotherly country. He pointed out that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would visit Pakistan at the head of a large group of businessmen.
In his meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Javed Zarif, PM Nawaz said that the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project would be discussed in detail during the bilateral engagements and that he would soon sit with his team — and try to speed up its completion.
