LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday decided to hearing without former president Pervez Musharraf’s participation on a petition moved by former president Rafiq Tarar.

Tarar says General (r) Musharraf removed him from presidency after toppling a democratic government in 1999 coup. He says he is entitled to pension and other retirement benefits due a former president.  He asked to the court to direct the government to start paying him. On Thursday, all respondents in the petition, except Musharraf, were represented through their counsel.

The court was informed that a notice had been served to Musharraf but neither he, nor his counsel had appeared. Justice Ijazul Ahsan postponed further hearing till March 3, 2014 and decided to proceed without waiting for Musharraf’s participation.
