KARACHI: Commissioner Shoaib Siddiqui directed all deputy commissioners to beef up security around churches in the city on the eve of Christmas.

Chairing a meeting with members of Catholic Coordination Committee on Wednesday, he said foolproof security would be ensured for the members of the Christian community so that unscrupulous elements may not take advantage of any possible loophole.

“Three important occasions - Chehlum, Christmas and the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah - are falling on December 24 and December 25 and we need to be extremely alert,” said the commissioner.  He directed the DCs and assistant commissioners to ensure close coordination with the officials of the police, Rangers, civic facilities and Karachi Electric Supply Company.
