ECP releases schedule for local govt elections in Sindh

Polls will be held on January 1, 2014.

The Election Commission on Wednesday issued a schedule for local government elections in Sindh, Radio Pakistan reported.

According to the schedule, nomination papers for candidates will be received from December 26 to December 29. Objections to nomination papers would be received on December 31.

Scrutiny of nomination papers and publication of names of validly nominated candidates would be done from January first to fifth.

Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed on January 6 and 7 while they would be disposed off from January 8 to 11.

January 12 will be the last date for withdrawal of candidature and the list of contesting candidates with symbols would be published on January 13.

Finally, polls will be held on January 18.
