Foreign language: Spanish language speech contest held

Argentine Ambassador Rodolfo Saravia says students’ fluency reflects hard work of teachers.

ISLAMABAD:

Students of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) showed their talents at the `Spanish Language Speech Contest’ held here on Tuesday, said a press release.

Zafar Rasheed and Attaur Rauf won first and second positions in Level-I respectively while Amal Huma stood first and Syeda Wajiha second in Level-II. Lubna Turab secured first whereas Yang Ping Ji got second position in Level-III.

The chief guest, Argentine Ambassador Rodolfo Saravia said, “Speaking Spanish gives people a competitive advantage in countries that work with Latin America and Spain. China is an example of a country that realised this trend and as a result, the demand to learn Spanish among Chinese people has grown significantly.”

He said the students’ fluency reflects the hard work of the teachers.

The ambassadors of Cuba, Spain and Chile, NUML Rector Maj Gen (retd) Masood Hasan, Spanish department head Mercedes Checa also attended.
