Addressing a press conference at the PML-N central secretariat, Rashid challenged the PTI Chairman to hold his December 22 sit-in against price hikes at Minar-e-Pakistan instead of Mall road, if he believed he still maintained the popularity he had prior to the elections.
Rashid claimed that endorsements of the PTI sit in by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the PML-Q leadership proved that Khan and former President Asif Ali Zardari had the "same script writer".
He claimed both parties did not have the courage to challenge PML-N directly, so they had forwarded Khan to present their case.
Rashid also claimed that Imran Khan’s popularity has declined as PTI has failed to deliver in K-P.
"It is ironic that PTI has announced its protest in Lahore, while the prices of commodities in Peshawar are much higher than that in Lahore", the minister said.
Comparing the performances of of K-P and Punjab governments, Rashid claimed the Punjab government has abolished the Patwari system in the province, and revenue records would be computerized by next year, while the K-P government had done nothing to improve the revenue system.
"Punjab has improved the transportation system, while people of Peshawar do not even have a decent transportation system. Imran Khan is still running the Sheriff system in K-P while the police department has improved significantly in Punjab", Rashid said.
He further added that tax collection in Punjab had risen by 17 per cent compared to last year's figures.
He further said that the PTI Chairman’s announcement to his workers to be ready for elections in June, 2014 was an immature approach to democracy.
Taking pot shots at the PTI's claim to eradicate corruption in 90 days, Rashid said the K-P government had neither sent any case of departmental corruption to an anti-corruption department, nor had it filed any reference to NAB.
The information minister said that Imran stood against Pakistan’s achievements in development, foreign investment, improvement of the economy and the country’s relation with the world.
