Fake degree: Former MNA jailed for three years

The court had earlier dismissed his bail application and ordered that his property be confiscated.

BAHALWALPUR: District and Sessions Judge Rasheed Qamar on Saturday awarded three years imprisonment to former MNA Malik Aamir Yar Waran in a fake degree case. According to the prosecution, Waran, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bahawalpur president, contested the election in 2010 from NA-184 on a fake bachelor’s degree. The court had earlier dismissed his bail application and ordered that his property be confiscated. Judge Qamar also fined the former Parliamentary Secretary for Sports, Culture, Youth and Tourism Rs500,000. Waran has been shifted to Bahawalpur Central Jail.
