Overpricing: Cabinet committee visits markets

Says whole sale prices of pulses, rice, sugar, chilies, spices and other items should be reviewed on daily basis.

FAISALABAD: Punjab Cabinet Committee for Price Control on Saturday visited Sahulat Bazaars in Faisalabad and checked the prices of essential commodities. The committee comprising Food Minister Bilal Yasin, Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema, Punjab Inspector General Khan Baig and Industry Secretary Punjab, Chief Secretary Punjab, IG Police Punjab and Secretary Industries Irfan Ali visited Model Bazaar, Jhang Road and the Sahulat Bazaar at Faizan-i-Madina Chowk. They inspected arrangements made by the district government. They said the whole sale prices of pulses, rice, sugar, chilies, spices and other items should be reviewed on daily basis. Yasin said, “A mechanism has been devised to keep the prices of essential items under control.” He said market committee systems had been revamped through introduction of reforms.
