“I and other Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf parliamentarians will appear in the Supreme Court on Monday for a hearing regarding the verification of voters using thumb impressions in four constituencies,” PTI chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday.
He was addressing a press conference at his residence.
He said the PTI was demanding a thorough investigation of rigging of the elections.
An election tribunal had directed the Nadra to verify voters’ records using thumbprints. However lawmakers from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz obtained stay orders against that ruling, he said.
“This is clear evidence of their malafide intent,” said Khan.
“If anyone from the KPK had asked for a recount the provincial government would have facilitated the process,” he said.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would consult all political parties on legislation regarding local government elections.
Khan said local government elections supervised by district coordination officers, district police officers and tehsil municipal offices would be a fraud.
“We will file a petition in the Supreme Court against that plan,” he said.
He said the PTI would take a decision of whether to demand early elections after verification of votes in the four constituencies.
“If the ruling parties in [the Punjab and Sindh] do not want free and fair elections they should declare monarchy... they have already appointed their children to top positions,” he said.
The prime minister’s daughter, he said, was heading a government scheme with a budget of Rs100 billion.
“We have been quiet to give government an opportunity to fulfil the campaign promises,” Khan said. “The honeymoon period is over. We will revive the tsunami at a historic protest rally, against price hike and the government’s policies, on December 22.”
He said the PTI had invited the Jamaat-i-Islami, the Awami Muslim League and civil society activists to join its protest.
Khan also welcomed two new members, former PML-N MPA Dr Khalid Imtiaz Baloch and former town nazim Raja Kamaran from Fasialabad, to the party fold.
Replying to a question, Khan said Maulana Fazalur Rehman no longer bothered him. He said he had been grieved by the execution of Abdul Qadir Mulla in Bangladesh.

It is pretty insane to think that when PTI wins then it was a fair election and whereas they lost it must be stolen from it. Yes, shortcomings in the system must be pointed out and corrected but everyone needs to LEARN to respect other's mandate. If you can't do that then you don't needs to be in politics. Learn to accept your defeat and move on. Learn to fight in parliament, not on streets or TV shows. Show what you can do where you have an opportunity, rather than agitating on streets.
@kharasuch:
The mind of a bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you shed on it, the more it contracts.
I hope this answers your question.
@yasir: To all who are speaking against Imran Khan. He is doing his best and change takes time - Rome wasn't building a day. Also, with Imran Khan he is also finding out who from is own party is honest and who isn't. If any one of you had brains, you would see that calling now is not crazy. Obviously you are all ignorant to the fact that pakistan's debt is at over $85b and it was only $34 when Musharraf was in power. PPP borrowed over $50b and now the Sharifs are going to ask for more.
In 6months time, the country will not be able to pay its bills nor will it be able to buy anything from outside as it won't have any money left!!!
May Allah give Hadayah to all. At this rate there will be no Pakistan in 10years!!!
Democracy only is the future of Pakistan.I am not a pro NS.But presently he is working all right.We like to let him work.When he distracts we will criticize him.Imran Kham is more a spoiler and howler and less a politician.His Dharnas are only a jugglery.Presently he wants to attract people to vote for him in local bodies elections.It is all the fuss.However i support him for vote recounting any where he likes. It is his right.
@khurasuch:
You don't understand English and I don't speak pidgin but for your sake, I will try: no, me talk Imran, no JTB!
Why don't the Government concentrate on solving the problems facing the country and let the people know what the Government policy is and how it is being implemented. Imran Khan does not rule Pakistan. Imran Khan is not PM. Let the government say clearly what its policies are regarding drone attacks, American interference in Pakistan internal politices, unemployment, etc. etc. AND most importantly what steps are being taken. Not just talk, talk and talk and no action. Wake up Nawaz Sharif do something, please. This is a request and demand.
@yasir: yaar before talking non-sense go and do some research and see how drastically KPK has changed for the better in last 6 months. Don't just spew non-sense and try to find the facts.
@yasir: pti is national party not limited to a province . and peaceful protest is the right of every one. please don't bash pti govt in kp they are doing well in kp . because i m from peshawr
he must perform in KP, before demanding fresh election I doubt with KP Present CM Pervaiz, his party will perform. Remember Muslim League performed in recent election because Punjab CM has performed. Good Luck.
IK, does not know what is politics becuase he does not know what to say and when to say? He always remains ready for brawl and he always moarns. God knows the social-poltical map of Pakistan when Imran Khan would be the prime minister of this country.
Imran rules KPK like a dictator. His PTI govt of khattak is just a puppet. They do what imran orders them to. They cannot think independently. He is doing exactly what he blamed nawaz and zardari for.
At least shahbaz sharif is not pushed around by his party leader.
Imran crying, Noise Shareef rules !!!
@Mogambo: You are right, spotting paid trolls is pretty easy in the comments sections of Pakistani papers :)
Demand of elections after just six months tell us how poor this government has been. It will be completely fair to say that this government is multiple times worse than PPP government. At one point I thought that there can be no worse government than PPP but PML N proved that wrong in less than 6 months.
Inflation in double digits. Can you even imagine what that means to the Ghareebs? Look at the electricity prices, petrol prices, gas prices. Where exactly do you see improvement? Police is still the same in Punjab, Patwar system still the same. And everything's in the family. PM, self. CM, brother. Finance Minister, Samdhi. Youth scheme chairperson, Mariam Nawaz. We all know how much Hamza Shabaz is involved in all the administrative affairs of the country. Can you imagine that Hamza chairs the meetings of Ministry of Power. Hasan Nawaz and Hussein have been minting money. One in Pakistan and other in UK. Then most of their property is outside of Pakistan. It definitely runs in billions of dollars.
Come on guys, open your eyes. The most rigged elections in the history of the country have been exposed. Election demand will be as fair as it gets.
@Ishrat salim:
Pakistan's economy is fragile, you think this country afford the practice of elections. Democrcay is an evolutionary process,it requires patience.
@Saleem: IK isnt seeking a new govt by calling for a recount. He's doing it in order to expose rigging. So people are not fooled next time. People like u always have time to criticise imran on the most minute issues. Please also get time to think about the credibility of elections when ur interior minster admits that about 60% ballots are unverifiable. Forget affordability of new elections. 100billion rupees are gonna b wasted in a financially vulnerable/risky loan scheme. Why not waste just another 15billion rupees to have reelections. Please think deep ,my fellow countrymen!
Election,whether after full term or mid term is the beauty of democracy.....people should welcome change through election, mid térm or after completion of full térm...'.what is the problem.?.....this is a universally accepted democratic system, so why so,much of hula boo....?
nikki_2501: I gareed, each and every Pakistani pay tax, direct and indirect.Your explanation made my day.Welldone
Imran, talk about your own self: you seem to think that your KP government's honeymoon is still continuing.
@Mogambo:
"You all are paid trolls, no one gives heed to you"; By the way we are not seeking any heed from anyone, I apology if the logical words hurt you. We regards your sentiment, but we always think about Pakistan not about the politicians those have no tolerance and try to cash issues only even at the cost of Pakistan's security. I love Pakistan more than any political follower/s and I have the right to criticise all politicians those are sitting in Parliament becuase as citizen of Pakistan I pay tax and these elected legislators get heavey allownaces/grants and priviliges from our taxes. So please think as ordinary Pakistani not as party worker.
Imuran PTI is doing the same business in politics, what noora league done in last 5 Yeats for PPP.
@John the Baptist: Are you talking about John the Baptist? Because it seems like Khan has been given a contract of failed protests and you too are also helping in enlarging the illusion.
Honeymoon period is over for everyone dear, even for the voters. With the help of JI and AML, he wants taliban to be our next rulers. Beware!
@Aysha M:
The same people are sitting in your parliament,they are seeking media attention and peoples diversion from their so called governance in KPK.
@Nikki: I am really happy that someone thinks democratically in Pakistan.This is the symbole of popularism,Nikki.Keep it up.
@Aysha M Which Parliament where the PM and Ministers seldom come and that too for few minutes.
Mr. Khan you should wait for your turn that will be in 2018.Let them enjoy their last term like the previous regime. People will decide not you.Our people have political awarness. If the government fails in performance it will be out in the next elections, credit goes to vibrant media for this awarness.
@ Ayeha M This is Pakistan. Politics here work like this because most of the people here are uneducated. Think from perspective of Pakistan normal individual, rather a high caliber lot, which is not ever 4 perc of society
Some people are born to moan, period.
Early elections :O After 6 months??? Is he alright?
Parliaments rendered irrelevant by PTI. Why cant these issues be debated in the National assembly. People voted in the elections so that their representatives can deliberate and sort matters, why are people pulled out on the roads every now and then, Enough of this dharna style politics
One of the most hardworking, intelligent, persistent and upright individual who ever walked this planet. One man army bulldozing the fragrant lechers and duffers in our political system. He will drag all the medieval colonial munshis into the 21st century kicking and screaming. He has the pathetic darbaris in a death vice on drone bigotry, election rigging and economic mismanagement, all in one go! There is a lesson in it for all the dimwits who used to call him Im the Dim.
Go ahead Imran, pull the curtain for all to see--the fake emperor has no clothes!
The kpk govt is virtually non existent. Imran has badly failed in kpk. He himself admits that pti ministers are involved in corruption. Now he is organizing dhrnas and protests along with losers like sheikh Rashid and JI putting his political interest over national interest in the process.
Khan is chasing an illusion. Yes, if elections are hold today then he may get some more vote than what he got last time but I doubt if he will get an overwhelming majority to form a government. But he will certainly not be able to form his government in KP. But what is more important is that country can afford to have elections every year. And the party who will not win in the next election would they ask for elections again?
