Recently executed Bangladeshi leader Abdul Qadir Molla’s support for Pakistan in 1971 was in fact his patriotism, as the two countries were one at the time, said Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan on Saturday.
Addressing journalists at the party’s provincial headquarters, Hasan said the Bangladesh government would have been justified in its action had Molla acted against the country after its independence from Pakistan.
He claimed the Hasina Wajid-led government has lost public trust, and wants anarchy and martial law in the country to avoid elections so that the opposition, led by Khalida Zia, does not gain power.
Hasan said the historic protests by the Bangladeshi people against Molla’s execution were a testimony to the fact that Molla was a patriotic Pakistani and later a patriotic Bangladeshi.
He criticised the federal government for failing to stop the execution, and said he was saddened by the Foreign Office statement terming the execution Bangladesh’s internal matter. However, he welcomed Interior Minsiter Chaudry Nisar Ali Khan’s statement on Molla’s hanging wherein he termed it “most regrettable and painful.”
Drone attacks
The JI chief said the provincial government had succeeded in denting the US by blocking Nato supplies and the government can use the situation to its advantage by asking for a cessation to drone strikes in return.
“The present government seems to be following the previous government’s stance on drone strikes,” he remarked.
Talking about military operations, Hasan said they were not the solution and only led to the displacement of millions of people, adding the Nawaz Sharif government did not seem serious in holding talks with the Taliban.
He also questioned the appointment of Maryam Nawaz as head of the youth loan scheme and said it was a question mark over the project’s transparency. He demanded the government to reveal Maryam’s credentials to be leading such a project.

Abdul Quader Molla must be given the soul of Pakistan award, Defense of Pakistan council must pressure the government to give the award immediately to all patriotic JI members wrongly convicted in Bangladesh.
Abdul Quader Molla fought for Pakistan, as per Geneva conventions he is a PoW, he cannot be hanged for his acts during the 71 war.
The whole trial was a sham. Read what independent Bangla journalists have written about the authenticity of the witnesses in that trial. The whole trial was filled with fake documents and evidence. Read about the leaked conversation between the presiding judge and a lawyer that was published in the Economist. Research about "Momena" the fake witness of this trial. Read about how the hands of the defence attornys were tied. Molla was a learned man who broke several academic records that stand till now. He was a great teacher and community activist. Was the principal of one of the best colleges in Bangladesh ... after the creation of that country. For 25 plus years no one in Bangladesh's history ever accused him of any of these crimes that he was hanged for. The current government of Bangladesh used this case to gain some support that it has lost due to its plundering of national wealth and incompetence. I am sure that this comment will not be posted in Tribune.
@Shahzad: After Bangladesh Kashmir has been a favorite target of genocide by Pakistan sponsored policy of bleeding by thousand cuts and JI has been repeating its performance of Bangladesh by targeting and killing the innocent Kashmiris and pumping the jehadi terrorists in the peaceful valley. The blood of each dead kashmiri either brahmin or Muslim is on the hands of terrorists not permitting peace. The greed and lust for Kashmir is driving force. So please do not pretend and make insinuations. Read and learn about the first attack on wards on Kashmir by Pakistani troops in grab of Qabailis was within a few weeks of independence in August 1947.
@Lala Gee: But Bangladesh is not just recognizing 1971 war as a war but want apology for not seperating it early. They are suing Pak for not listenning to Mujeeb U R early and thereby making India to get involved & to force a seperation resulting in the killing and the bloodshed in hundreds and thousands thru Mukti Bahini.
@Ch. Allah Daad:
"First of all he was not a Pakistani, he was a BD citizen, holding BD passport. We can say, he was ex. Pakistani but cannot claim he was patriotic Pakistani."
Is this also applicable to Nawaz Sharif's sons who have British Nationality and Passports? And what about those millions of Pakistanis living in Europe, USA, Canada, and elsewhere? Are they also not patriotic?
@Umer: Please don't use a Muslim name to abuse Islam.
As per your query, Balochistan is relatively stable and patriotic. You may ask any Baloch living in any city in Pakistan. Musharraf's operations had sent the few handful of separatists to Afghanistan and Indian bases there. Just because you can sit in India and say Balochistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa should be separate doesn't mean the people living there agree with you.
@All Indians: Jamaat e Islami is a part of the culture of Muslims in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India. You can't separate such a great organization with so much legitimacy and support from the Muslim populations. Hindus should give up trying to destroy Muslim religious organizations, otherwise you are calling for a civil war in India itself and further partitions.
"He was a patriotic Pakistani who stood for us in worst of times. Instead of making fun of him, we need to have praise for him." @Faisal: First of all he was not a Pakistani, he was a BD citizen, holding BD passport. We can say, he was ex. Pakistani but cannot claim he was patriotic Pakistani. Here are my reasons. The State of Pakistan and Army leadership ( General Musharaf apologized from BD people and saluted grave of dead freedom fighter who died fighting Pakistan army in 1970-71 civil war). Since 1971, our media, establishment, politicians and above all majority of Pakistanis have admitted that atrocities were committed by Pakistani forces and their supporters against our own brothers of eastern wing. It was Pakistani Establishment and majority political party of then West Pakistan who did not accept the outcome of General Elections and started an illegal, inhuman and evil operation against their Brothers in East Pakstan. Their only crime was that they were demanding transfer of power as per election results. How come those forces and their supporters who killed, raped and looted their own brothers and sisters and did not give right to freedom could be patriotic.
@Pak2013:
Elections are due on 5 Jan. Why should she step down when it is not a constitutional requirement? Who should she listen to, you or law of her own country?
@Bangla1971:
"Bangladesh should seriously review its relations with Pakistan."
Brother, read what 3 million Bengalis living in Pakistan say in this news story published in Express Tribune on November 4, 2012, and see the picture in which thousands of Bengalis are carrying placards of slogans showing allegiance with Pakistan and demanding to be legalized and given Pakistani nationality. Here is what their committee chairperson says.
“There are more than three million Bengalis who live in Pakistan and call it their country. Those who call us migrants should correct their facts,” said the committee’s chairperson, Shaikh Muhammad Feroze, while speaking at a rally outside the KPC. He added that Begalis should be seen as equals as they are patriotic and have sacrificed a lot for the country"

@ Bangla 1971: I suggest you ask your Prime Minister to put Bangladesh in order first. She can't even perform the simple task of holding elections. LOL! Please go out on the streets and ask her to step down and save Bangladesh instead wasting your time trolling on Pakistani websites.

VINOD: Isn't that rich coming from someone who stands silent on genocide of Kashmiris at the hands of their army? So, he was a rapist and murderer and Hasina Wajid only came to realize this after 40 years, quite amazing!
Now on wards any member of JI and similar organisations punished/ sentenced by Bangladesh will automatically will be termed as patriotic Pakistani and shaheed with prayers to place him in Jannat.

@Lala Gee: Dear Lala ji why do you hide your real name. Your comments always remind me the truth that there is some thing like "Parha likha Jahil" in this world. You weave some fantastic and most stupid stories.
@Maula Jatt: Pakistan categorizes the world and human beings on the basis of religion. They look at countries as MUSLIM< CHRISTIAN< JEW countries and HUMANs as Muslims christians hindus etc.

"Abdul Qadir Molla was a great Pakistani till his death"
The above quoted comment posted at 2013-12-15 09:26:04 is not mine. Perhaps some fan of mine has posted on my behalf. The truth is I don't know a thing about Mr. Mollah and whether he committed any of the alleged crimes or not. My only concern is the way his trial was conducted in a Kangaroo Court deceivingly named International War Crimes Tribunal. And I am not alone in this concern, as Human Right Watch International and the other human rights watchdogs, including Secretary General of the United Nations, has raised similar concerns. Secondly, being a well wisher of Bangladesh and Bengali people, I have serious reservations about the outcome of these politically motivated trials. These trials won't bring any good to Bangladesh, and the only real beneficiary would be India who wanted to make Bangladesh their dependent vessel state like Bhutan. Below is my detailed analysis of situation.
JI has always been "the pain" for India for her leading role in the struggle of Kashmiris for their liberation from Indian occupation. India also sees JI Bangladesh the biggest hurdle in their plans to make Bangladesh their vessel state, as JI was fiercely against India's exploitative, oppressive, and hegemonic policies and was sympathetic towards Pakistan instead. Moreover, during the 1971 war Bengali Hindu population supported India and Indian army as they always did in similar situations (recall Hindu population's support of Indian army in Junagadh, Hyderabad Deccan, Bhopal, Goa, Sikkim), and for their this unpatriotic act got the beating from the patriotic Bengali population among which JI followers were in the fore front. In this context, India saw JI as their biggest enemy outfit in the region and always yearned to get rid of them, or at-least weaken them. Towards this end, as a first step, they used media to launch a crusade of made-up and exponentially exaggerated accusations against them. Then they used local Hindu population and the so-called liberals to organize rallies to create hostile environment against them in which they demanded for their trial, notwithstanding the fact that more than 42 years were passed since the alleged crimes. It is not difficult to understand, even for a simpleton, how good the proofs of their involvement could be after passing such a long time. Finally they used their master puppet, Sheikh Haseena Mujeeb, to eliminate them one by one through a Kangaroo court deceivingly named as International War Crimes Tribunal.
I do not like executions what ever be the crime for it. But ZA BHUTTO was sentenced to death penalty, by a true kangaroo court ( and later on executed ) a newspaper had asked for comments from Mian Tufail Muhammad, then amir of JI. Mian had said " Bhutto should be hanged hundred times " I read it with my own eyes.Mian was a close relative of Zia ul haq. Now why this hue and cry on Mulla's hanging?Bangladesh has its own law and constitution.The trial courts must have been framed on the regulations of the land.Mulla had multiple serious charges of genocide, kidnapping, rapes etc.Maybe he was punished rightly. JI is not alone It is a part of combined opposition lead by Khalida Zia of Bagladesh Ntional Party.In War Crime Trial courts several non JI people are also facing identical charges. Bangladesh is a Muslim country and an important member of Saarc,in which we are also there. Wee must not interfere in Bangladesh's internal affairs and keep away.
@Faisal: "I met a colonel somedays back who is now a ticket holder of JI and he told me how JI had fought alongside them against the division of Pakistan."
Did he also reveal to you his and his fellow men's doings in Bangladesh. remember Abdul Qadir Molla chose to accept citizenship of Bangladesh and never called himself a Pakistani. Where as there are thousands who chose to remain Pakistanis and rotting in the camps why no one care for them in Pakistan?
@Maula Jatt:
Do you know what is going on in Baluchistan? What do you think of those governments, before you lecture anyone else on morality?
@Dani: please do not ask such uncomfortable questions who will answer ??????
If he was such a patriotic Pakistani then why was he living in Bangladeash even after 42 years of 1971? In their enthusuasism to give the controversial judgement Bangladesh SC failed to address this vital question.
May Allah bless Molla with the highest Paradise. His tormentors will have to face judgement for what they have done to one of the greatest scholars of Bangladesh. A man of conscience is measured by his service for his people.
All Hindus who abuse this righteous man, I pity you. Supporting injustice is just as bad as committing injustice. This is the same Bangladesh government which fired on Burma Muslim refugees. Shame on them.
Pakistani political leaders are experts at twisting facts...Mr. Molla was NOT charged with supporting Pakistan, before, during or after Bangladeshi liberation. He is charged with rape, murder, and incitement to violence .... but Mr. Hasan is silent about this, unless he feels that it is every Pakistani's patriotic duty to rape, murder, and indulge in violence...so what is the problem ? That may be his attitude.
The JI should be banned as a terrorist organization...support for this terrible murderer who has finally gotten the justice he deserved is a sin...there was no question of his guilt with many eye witnesses to his crimes of rape of 11 year old girl and murder of her family...the JI support for this killer is indicative of their extremist view for supporting murdering Taliban also...there is no religious justification for supporting convicted criminals and in doing this the JI is supporting enemies of Pakistan too???they should be banned as a terrorist organization by all countries of the world...
@Lala Gee:
A mass murderer and rapist makes for a great Pakistan? So the rest of us law abiding Pakistanis must be doing it wrong.
@Abdullah: The butcher of Mirpur faced a fate similar to the other butcher named Kasab. Its called Karma and it always gets you in the end.
@Faisal:
No mass murderer and rapist stands for me. Speak for yourself.
Hasan said the historic protests by the Bangladeshi people against Molla’s execution were a testimony to the fact that Molla was a patriotic Pakistani and later a patriotic Bangladeshi.
How can a man patriotic to Pakistan and was againist its creation can be later patriotic to Bangladesh later in life ........?
May Allah (swt) reward him highest place in jannah, ameen.
After reading so many comments in Pakistani newspapers in the last few days regarding this issue I am truly appalled and feel nothing but sorry for Pakistanis who seem to live in a world that doesn't exist outside of their heads.
Pakistan is a unique place, nowhere in this world so much crocodile tears are shed for ummah and other people like these so-called stranded Pakistanis who never set their foot on Pakistani soil, but they still deny every right to their own people and those Afghan refugees who were born in Pakistan, and after living so many decades in Pakistan they are still treated as untouchables in the Islamic dreamland.
What is so special about these Bihari people in Bangladesh? Millions of other Bangladeshis are also living in poor and miserable conditions. Bangladesh is a developing country but it is still taking care of these people who hate that same country and its people that provided them refuge. If they could not become Indian, if they could not become Bangladeshi, do you seriously think they will become good Pakistani?
It is also clear to see that the people of Pakistan didn't learn any lesson from the humiliation of 1971 war. They are still in a denial mode, which has apparently become their national character, instead of learning from their past mistakes they have buried their heads further deep in the sand and awarding these criminals posthumus Pakistani citizenship. Bangladesh should seriously review its relations with Pakistan.
Instead of shedding crocodile tears for these people give some rights to your own people and put your house in order. By the way, are Sindhis ready to accept more Biharis or still only Punjabis and Muahjirs decide what should be done in the land of pure?
Munnawer Hasan of JI Pakistan and Hafiz saeed both are creating problem for Pakistan . Their fate can be well assessed .
Learn how to recognize sarcasm, my friend.
42 years back Mulla Qadir and his accomplice were patriotic, now Talibans are true patriots. We must believe what JI claims, if we wana patriots.
@Faisal: You peoples are really love for criminals and hate innocent civilians.Better to consult some psychiatrican.
Abdul Qadir Molla was a great Pakistani till his death, Pakistan govt must have used all means to save him , at least must have given him political asylum. Abdul Qadir Molla did what he had to do during 1971, and it was a war to keep Pakistan unity and in war people get killed .... bad things happen all the time in war.
I am sure,that Molla was a patriotic Bangla Deshi too.One is likely to see the adverse reaction of his hanging soon.
There are I thik a few lac biharis stranded in Bagladesh who consider themselves patriotic pakistanis.JI has never bothered about them or asked them to be repatriated to pakistan .Bangladesh does not want such patriotic pakistanis as Abdul Qadir on their soil to cause murder,rape & mayhem so common in pakistan...
He was a patriotic Pakistani who stood for us in worst of times. Instead of making fun of him, we need to have praise for him. I met a colonel somedays back who is now a ticket holder of JI and he told me how JI had fought alongside them against the division of Pakistan. The hanging Mullah Abdul Qadir after almost 40 years of 71 war and before elections goes on to show the worst form of political oppression by daugher of Mujeeb.
What about those stranded Pakistanis still living in miserable life in red cross camps? Why JI and all the people shedding crocodile tears are quite about those Pakistanis.who refused to take Bangladeshi Nationality but this Mullah Abdul Qadir do take Bangladeshi Nationality.
So he is not shaheed.....?????
Why is JI defending the atrocities committed by this bearded fool ? First this guy sided with the militants, against our very own brave soldiers fighting to keep them at bay, and now this !? JI needs to be banned in Pakistan, such careless remarks by someone in Munawar Hasan's position are not to be tolerated !
