The city police are still clueless about the motives, the hands behind the triple murder that took place in Rawalpindi’s busiest Bara Market late on Thursday.
The police said that the probe was under way to identify the culprits who shot dead three persons including two brothers. The two vendor brothers, Sher Zaman and Sher Bahadur, and their relative Hazrat Ali, hailing from Bajaur Agency, were sprayed with bullets by unidentified assailants riding on a motorcycle. Three other people were also injured in the shooting incident.
The police have so far recorded statements of six witnesses and the injured, however, no tangible information could be gathered by the police leading to clues about the assailants.
“At this stage, I cannot say anything for sure about the motive behind the killings, it may be a case of personal enmity as relatives of the victims initially showed their reluctance to register the report, which suggested that they knew about the killers and wanted to take revenge by their own,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Raja Taifoor.
The police said that at the time of receiving the bodies, the body language of the relatives suggested that they knew about the killers but they didn’t share anything about them with the police.
The city police have registered an FIR against unknown killers on the complaint of Hazrat Hussain, a cousin of the deceased.
Investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Nazim Abbas, said that the police were collecting information and recording statements of the witnesses.
