In a meeting held in the city on Friday, the Provincial Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) considered recommending all government departments to ensure solid steps against harassment of female employees at offices.

The meeting also discussed a 20% special quota for females to get loans for initiating businesses. During the discussion, members were told about the steps PCSW has taken so far to assist the provincial government in legislation for women rights.

PCSW Chairperson Neelam Toru shared copies of the laws still pending in the provincial assembly. Various suggestions forwarded by the members were also discussed in light of existing laws.

Secretary social welfare Azmat Haneef shared his views on the mechanism the commission shall adopt to spread awareness about women’s rights and to make women an essential part of decision making processes at the grass-roots level.
