ISLAMABAD: The Benazir Bhutto Hospital, one of the principal medical centres of Rawalpindi, is hosting patients in an inconsiderate and immoral manner, especially those belonging to lower income groups. Upon reaching the hospital, sick people encounter a boorish and disrespectful staff. After they somehow manage to get admittance forms, the monotonous task of providing unnecessarily lengthy details follows.
We ourselves witnessed a case of a car crash victim whose condition was precarious while the patient’s weeping family members pleaded with doctors and staff to admit him, owing to a lack of equipment and space, this was not possible. Those who are fortunate enough to get admitted to the hospital are met with an awful experience. The unclean and filthy environment there is likely to spread infections.
Moreover, dirty wards are a breeding ground for cats and rodents. Still, the discomfort of a poor patient does not end here as even the surgeons are openly hostile to people. Besides, one has to cover a long distance to buy medicines because a proper medical store is not inside the hospital’s premises. We request the health ministry to acknowledge and resolve the above issues and make this dreadful place healthy for patients.
