The 24-year-old had been underperforming for a while now but still he was carried with the team which led to criticism from experts and former cricketers. But despite being given full backing he failed to show his potential.
Meanwhile, opener Sharjeel Khan has been retained for the ODIs after decent performances in his first two T20Is against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka respectively.
Haris Sohail is another player who have been recalled into the side while selectors have kept faith in Asad Shafiq.

Umar Amin did not belong in the shorter format in the first place. He is clearly suited for the longer version of the game. Hope he keeps his chin up and fights for a slot in the test side with Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq.
The ODI side looks fine. Sohail Tanvir being in the side again is a real bummer though.
PCB should be fired. No one, and I mean no one has any idea how to run this board. Get rid of them.
Sohaib Maqsood is an exciting prospect, hopefully he'll stay level-headed and not go the way of Umar Akmal. Anwar Ali and Bilawal both impressed in South Africa and should be playing in UAE as well as newcomer Sharjeel.
The decision to give youngsters into the team - Sohaib Maqsood, Bilawal Bhatti and Sharjeel Khan - and letting Misbah do his job is clearly paying off. We defeated SA at their home (the fact that a team like India was recently thrashed by them in SA proves that it was no fluke) and now this series also seems hopeful. I hope PCB doesn't mess this up.

If he can be given as many chances as Shahid Afridi has been given, i'm pretty sure he will perform in atleast one match to make his place for the next 30 matches.

Umer Amin is very good batsman and has been misused. He never could get a permanent number to bat nor he was tried regularly. Not selecting him for one day squad is not fair with him.
