The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) distributed sweets in celebration of Yaum-e-Nijaat (the day of deliverance), marking the completion of Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s tenure. The bar congratulated the incoming chief justice, Tassaduq Hussain Jillani.
The Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) executive committee suspended the membership of its vice president, Rana Naeem Sarwar, for organising a farewell dinner for the chief justice.
Bar Secretary Asif Mahmood Cheema issued a show-cause notice to Sarwar as a majority of SCBA members had agreed not to hold any farewell events for the CJ.
