Too few flights to Gilgit-Baltistan

Letter December 11, 2013
Right now, PIA is the only airline that serves G-B.

GILGIT: Through your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the issue of air travel in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B). The distance from Gilgit to Islamabad is around 500 kilometres and people travel on this route using buses and other means of transport. Right now, PIA is the only airline that serves G-B, but due to a shortage of aircraft, the flights to the region are few and far between. The G-B chief minister and the federal government are kindly requested to allow private airlines to provide services to the region. That way those who live here and those who need to travel here for business or other reasons will not experience hardship.
