Maiden Trip: Army chief visits Waziristan

The army chief visited the field formations deployed in North and South Waziristan agencies.

ISLAMABAD: In his first trip as Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, on Thursday, visited the troops deployed in the tribal areas. According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief visited the field formations deployed in North and South Waziristan agencies.

Interacting with officers and men at Miranshah and Wana, General Raheel expressed satisfaction and appreciated the state of combat readiness and high morale of troops. He also lauded their achievements towards bringing stability in these areas through development projects under taken by the army. “These development projects are likely to contribute in the national effort for durable peace and economic prosperity in the areas affected by terrorism,” he was quoted as saying according to ISPR.

The army chief advised the officers and men to continue working with the army’s traditional unflinching resolve and utmost dedication.
