KARACHI:

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Nusrat Seher Abbasi has filed an adjournment motion in the Sindh Assembly against the attack on Express Media Group offices.

In the motion, she requested Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani to adjourn all proceedings of next assembly session (whenever it is summoned) to discuss the attack on the offices of one of the largest media groups of the country. “This is the second attack on Express Group offices in the last four months, but the government has failed to expose the real culprits behind them and provide protection to journalists,” she said while speaking to the media.

The PML-F MPA added that some elements wanted to terrorise journalists by using such tactics.

She asked all political forces to join hands in order to put pressure on the government to protect the media which according to her is the fourth pillar of the state.

“Not only politicians, but journalists have also struggled a lot for the restoration and promotion of democracy and many have even lost their lives. Therefore, it is high time we extend our support,” said Abbasi.
