PESHAWAR:

A man accused of molesting a young boy in Zaida Swabi was denied bail by the Peshawar High Court on Monday. The court directed the victim to appear in court for the next hearing.

A single-member bench comprising Chief Justice (CJ) Dost Muhammad Khan heard the case on Monday. The accused Zohaib Hussain’s lawyer told the court his client was charged with molesting a young student on August 22 and an FIR was registered against him.

The matter was settled in Hussain’s village in Swabi with the help of a jirga comprising village elders, said his lawyer. He argued the victim’s medical report, conducted at the Forensic Science Laboratory, revealed he had not been molested.

CJ Khan then remarked the forensic laboratory staff takes bribes and changes reports in many cases which gives an advantage to the accused.

Following this, the CJ refused to grant Hussain bail and directed the victim to appear before the court for the next hearing. The case was adjourned till December 9.
