KARACHI: Pakistan’s women kabaddi team narrowly missed making history on Monday as they were pipped by Denmark 45-39 in their first-ever World Cup match, played at the Guru Arjun Dev Sports Stadium in Tarn Taran, India.

The team is placed in Group B in the competition along with England, Mexico and Denmark as eight teams vie for the title and have a chance to win a handsome prize of INR10 million. Pool A consists of hosts India, the USA, Kenya and New Zealand.

Pakistan will next take on England on December 7, while their last group match will be against Mexico two days later.

It should be mentioned here that authorities had to search hard in different universities and colleges to hunt the required talent and form a decent 16-member squad, which could go on to represent Pakistan at the international level in the mega event.

Pakistan girl kabadi team will be a force to reckon with. Team was formed in last few months and it was their first international exposer against an experienced Danish team.
