BAHAWALPUR: “There is no Taliban safe house in the Punjab and religious seminaries are not helping militants,” Inspector General of Punjab Police Khan Baig said on Sunday. He was addressing a press conference during his visit to Rahim Yar Khan. He said the peace situation in the Punjab was far better than that in other provinces. He said steps were being taken to further improve it. To a question, he said there were no Taliban or their safe houses in the Punjab. He said provincial police were on high alert. When asked why assistant sub-inspectors from Bahawalpur had not been sent for upper class courses in the last five years, the IG said he was unaware of that. He said he would conduct an inquiry into the matter. He said appointments of constables would resume soon from where it was stopped.
